My 11k GWVR RV has a custom made trailer hitch due to the custom extended frame that won't accept hitches for the OEM van frame, which is typical for RVs. No clue what the rating is, but I'd guess 3,500 or 5,000.

Remember, we are talking about the D.O.D. Here....
+1 on hitting the upfitter (chassis modifying company) for a vin cert for your needs
As they might have records.
Can you upgrade the surge brakes on the trailer?
Cuby you ever scale that rig?

Towing weight is not a hard spec, that's why it's not on the door jamb label. It varies with equipment and options, factory or aftermarket. Tire size, axle ratio, transmission, trans cooler, 2wd vs 4wd all factor in.

Best practice is to see what the hitch is rated for, and limit the registration to that.

Here, I'm limited to 4500kgs of trailer before I have to upgrade my driver's license. (actually do have the upgraded drivers license, but the BS and fees for those higher weights isn't worth the hassle.)

No, but today I did spot this pic from a 1985 sales brochure. I highlighted the important bits for the model I have. I don't know how 100% accurate it is since it's listed as 25' 9" plus 5.5" for Ford chassis, when other brochures say the Nassu is 27ft. I guess they just rounded up to the next whole foot from 26' 2.5"? Plus thats DRY weight. That doesn't take into account water, propane, gas/diesel weight.

This very poor quality picture showing the exact floorplan I have, from a 1984 brochure, says 27ft. Maybe they got in trouble for rounding up so much, so they got more accurate after that in the 1985 brochure above.

EDIT: Ok yeah, for 1985 they're saying 26' but they dont show the dual chairs behind the passenger seat. Maybe that was an optional thing held over from 1984, or the dual sofas shown was on Chevy chassis by default, with the dual chairs only on Ford as an optional upgrade. Or they brought it back after the marketing material went to print.

It doesn't mention diesel as an option but I'm guessing that was an extra special order thing that very few people wanted to shell out for, on top of the Ford upgrade.

Mine is a late 85 (Jan 85) so it has the '86 color design. The 85 in the yellow page brochure looks more like the 84.

Your 11,000 GVW is total maximum loaded weight for your truck. Your truck probably has a curb weight of around 7,000 (you need to weigh it) so your carrying capacity would be 4,000. The GCVR is 16,000 with 3.55 gears and 20,000 with 4.10 gears. If your truck is loaded to capacity of 11,000 your trailer can weigh 9,000. If your truck is unloaded and weighs 7,000 your trailer can weigh 13,000. Both of these are based on 4.10 gears And automatic transmission. Hope this helps.

In the end I filled in the contact form for FORD customer service, and I must say I got a swift reply!
just a few hours later I was supplied with a link to the FORD Europe website, where I had to choose for Ford France.
Thanks Ford USA! :-(
The thing is; Ford France doesn't like to deal with USA build vehicles, I think it has to do something with the way a lot of French people are?
Anyway, I already had contact with them, and therefore I tried to get in touch with FORD USA, and then got in touch with such a paperpusher, and now I'm again in that very "positive" merry go round....with no end.

PLEASE if somebody who wishes any good to Ford, or has better contacts with them (as I have non) and can help me out?

@ Gnatv, I really appreciate your part, and I am pretty sure it's correct, But I need those numbers on a official piece of paper from Ford, in order to get my truck registered correct over here with the proud inventors of bureaucracy. :-0

If you can find a 1989 owners manual it may have the information. I found this manual online. it doesn‘t say 1989
though.

I wonder if this is similar to ambulance prep. Look at the metal heat shielding above the C6 on my RV.

I'm gonna try to recover those pictures you posted here. and see where I can get with them.
I just got a second reply from Ford, and they said that my truck wasn't from their USA account or something...
BS in my opinion, because it says made in the USA on the truck!???

Another thing, Does Ford have something as a museum or so attached to their factories/organisation?
In the past I had such a likewise thing going on with a Dodge truck, and their heritage club or museum organisation could help me out then and there.
