dash cluster ?

my dash cluster has no rpm tach in it but i pulled one out of a truck that does, can i just plug in the harness and will the tach work or is there a wire or something i need to add? and how do i get the speedo wire unhooked from the cluster? I just cut the cable off the other truck cause i couldn't figure out how to get the dam thing disconnected .

To disconnect the speedo, grab the two tab-like things and squeeze them together slightly, and pull/twist alittle and it should come off. At least thats how I did it

i dont know if the wiring is in place for the 80-86's like the newer trucks. be aware of that.
