how hard/expensive would it be to convert a IDI e4od to beable to use in a powerstroke?

thinking this would be great in my 98 E350 when I go to 4x it.

don't know if its got the e4od or the 4r100, I hear they mixed a lot of stuff up in these years.

whos got the low down?

You just need to use the psd converter which is 6 bolt rather than 4 bolt for the idi.
Swap out the solenoid pack and install the one with the correct plug for your year.
The 4R100 shift linkage is different too iirc so you would swap that.
Basically just a few small things. That said, the pre '95 E4OD's were not the best.If it was rebuilt to meet at least 95 specs at some point,it should hold up and be good.If you think it's a pre '95 without a reman,I dunno if I would try it lol.
Ideally, you'll grab a 95+ E4OD or 4R100 and bolt one of those in but of course if you have it.......Run 'er.:D

No problem. The 4R100 wasn't used until 99, the 98 still had the E4OD. Don't remember if the torque converter is a 4 bolt or a 6 bolt from 94.5 and up, might have to change the flex plate. No other changes have to be made if using a 95 and up E4OD.

E4OD was used from 89 to 98, a 95 and up has all the updated mods.

Might want to read this.

Who is going to rebuild it? You or a trans shop?

That tranny weighs 270 Lbs dry.

To make it work. Change the converter and solenoid pack, and TRS. What year is the IDI tranny. If it's pre 92 you will need to change the manual lever.

This will be fine with a stock PSD. If you tune it, the tranny will smoke pretty quick without mods.

Right. The range sensor.Need the digital one in this case (where/if replacing 4r100 anyway).I knew I was forgetting something.
Or just the latter 95+ sensor,if that's what it is.
