I have a 88 7.3, non turbo... does anybody know where the temp switch is that controls the high idle and timing advance? I have no power to that circuit on cold starts. Thanks!

The mystery solved!

Gracias, I'll look there in the morning, but I don't remember seeing any type of sensor there, I'll have to look closer. Screw in brass sort of thing with wires, is it?

Screw in brass sorta thing with '2 tabs' on top of it. One is +12volts in, the other +12 volts out. Can't remember the temp for cutout right now.

Run a jumper wire from the + battery to the High Idle Solinoid. It'll tell ya right away if the soliniod is operational.

the sensor on mine didnt work and it was like $50 at the ford dealer so i wired a switch on the dash for it. the temp switch simply completes the circuit when its cold.
