Clutch rod question

I assume this extra stuff is the cruise control switch on the clutch linkage.

I was trying to decide what I was going to do here. Heim joint, custom bushing, ??? Anyway, gave that a little tug and it didn't pull out. Is that switch an assembly with the rod?

Thats clutch interlock and it can come.off but how did u manage to remove pushrod from mc? Hopefully it wont fall out now once installed with new bushing

It wasn't "connected" to the master. When I unbolted the master and pulled it off the firewall, that stayed behind.

there are plastic "fingers" in the MC that clip into the groove on the pushrod, it shouldn't have popped out

Hmmm... okay. I'll have to look into that. So any thought on how to get the rod out of the interlock? Does the interlock bit come apart or do I just pull harder on the rod to get it out?

I've never taken one apart, but for some reason I always thought it kinda "clamped" around the rod. I doubt that's the case though.

Does that flat bar on the bottom lock the unit together?

It does come off.

Unclip it from wiring and it take a close look there has to be 2 clips and it pops off iirc....been a while.

Why do you want it off?

If I'm going to mod the arm either via heim joint or custom bushing etc. I'll probably have to get it apart. If I do heim joint, I figured chucking it in the lathe would make quick work of parting and threading the end for the joint. Given that it is all in good shape though, I may just change the bushing and get on with my life. The pedal side looks brand new. It was never worn into like a lot of them you see.

I got a new rod with the new master, but the more I think about it, the more I think I'll just put it back together with a fresh bushing and get on with life. It was good for the last 25 years that way. I got to get out of the habit of making everything a project. I'll never finish if I don't.

only took me about 45 min to retrofit mine for a heim,
but i deleted cruise control and deleted the switch

look at the white piece on the bottom of the switch.....it slides out to remove the rod from the switch

I thought about just deleting it but I want my cruise. This will be a highway cruiser most of the time so cruise control while not a must would really be nice. When we converted my brothers 91 to manual, we didn't put a kill on the clutch and when you stepped on the clutch the rev's went to the moon and it kicked the cruise out on it's own. Must be a limit somewhere in the system to kill it. I'd rather not go that route. At least this engine has a governor on it.

When you switched to heim did you use the pin on the pedal or swap it out to at 3/8 bolt through the pedal?

@Black dawg- Thanks a bunch! I figured it had to slide out somehow but I didn't take the time to mess with it last night.

Bear with me guys as I put this thing back together. There were a lot of hacked up things and some stuff that honestly, I just don't remember how it went. Even with the number of pictures I took, It's nowhere near enough. That happens when a project stretches on for years I guess.

its not the pedal per say, but the arm that crosses over the brake pedal.
i drilled it out and used a 3/8" bolt with a steel locking nut.
the pin is just pressed in there.
a center punch and a BFH it came right out.

After you re assembly it put a 3/8 c clip on it also. One of the ears on my bushing broke so I put the c clip on it for more than a year now and I have had no problems.
