Right before i satrted tearing my truck apart to rebuild everything i tore the clutch out, well i pulled the engin and when i got the clutch out i notice the pressur plate teeth were uneven, and the center of the clutch was also torn out, along with the pilot shaft bearing being gernaded badly(it was a roller bearing type) The clutch kit i used was a lifetime warranty valeo clutch kit from autozone with the supplyed bearing stlye pilot bearing:confused: is this any good, or should i try to go get a bushing type one, i dont want to keep replacing clutches all the timecookoo

I've heard good and bad about both. When I took out a needle bearing clutch after 1500 miles, the bearings fell out in my hand. A member on this board sent me his old 11" flywheel with a 10,000 kevlar pilot bushing installed, and it looked like new. I don't see how a lack of moving parts could hurt anything, as long as it doesn't bind up. So I vote bushing.

Get the kevlar pilot bushing. No worries about the grease getting washed out and bearing burning up, the kevlar is considered self lubricating type bushing so as long as you get it in straight and seat it all the way, you are good to go.

How's this for a vote of confidence for the kevlar bushing... clutch release in my truck with a mechanical clutch is almost as effortless as with a typical truck with a hydraulic clutch.

South Bend SMF conversion with kevlar bushing. Peter has built a reputation, and it stands true when you try to torture one of his clutches. Lifetime warranty on the Valeo just means you'll be supplying alot of labor R&Ring the damn thing. My old 85 has the South Bend clutch, very nice pedal feel, smooth engagement. It's held up to the new owners heavy foot so far.

Doesn't help you with your predicament, but the extra coin is definately worth it when you push your rig. Tearing the hub out of a clutch disc means inferior materials, not abuse and rpm.
