Buddy of mine brought by the house this morning a 1999 24v auto with 184k miles that he is looking at purchasing. I took it for a spin and it's all stock and noticed that when I pressed the go pedal to the carpet that it clattered but back off just a hair and the clatter would go away. I did this a number of times and noticed no smoke out of the tailpipe - I sort of expected to see some white but nothing. It sounded like the timing changed (way advanced) or like they do when then get air in the lines. I was turning around 3k rpms at the time (90 something mph).

Starving for fuel mabey at that speed:dunno Durge didn't happen to limit the trucks to 90 in the '99 did they, that would explain some puterized defueling if it wasn't sensor related:confused:

Just grabbing straws and wild *** guessing hereLOL

I typed out 4 or 5 different answers and
decided I could guess wrong all night. Without
actually hearing it, I'm not sure. Bring it by
tomorrow and I'll have a listen to it for ya.

My thoughts after thinking about is that maybe it's starving for fuel because we all know of the lift pump history these trucks have... but not sure because I have not actually heard a 24v with problems before.
