Changed PCM and got a "New" code...

GenLightning (Doug) sent me a PCM, to help me diagnose a problem with my E4OD and I threw it in today... I disconnected both batteries before hooking up the new PCM, but couldn't get the old one out.. (What's the trick, to make it clear the wheel well????)

I test drove the truck and put 13 miles on it. I still had/have no O/D light and still in limp mode..

Once I got it home, I managed to get the instrument panel trim off to see if the check engine light bulb was blown (Only to find that it has NO check engine light!) so I could check the PCM codes. With no C/E light, I used a test light in the computer connector. I got all the same codes I had before, plus a new code... Here's what I got:

I have a solenoid pack on the way and hope I can get this transmission problem solved once and for all!

I know one thing.... I'm getting as intimately familiar with this truck, as I did with the 87.. These trucks will force you to learn them!!

The best fix for those codes is to throw a bolt action behind the engine.

Here are the details of your codes I got from AllDataDIY.

23 is TP sensor input is out of Self-Test range
56 is TOT sensor input is greater than self test maximum
91 is shift solenoid 1 (SS1) circuit failure
92 is shift solenoid 2 (SS2) circuit failure
93 is coast clutch solenoid circuit failure
94 is converter clutch control solenoid circuit failure
99 is electronic pressure control circuit failure

Damn this all sounds bad, mostly solenoids though so you may be in luck. Alldata also has trouble shooting sections that I was looking at as well and they point to bad harnesses as well.

to get the pcm out it is the same as on obs psd. take a few bolts out of the fenderwell and pry the plastic down. search psd chip instructions.

Rule out the 23 code if the throttle was not wide open.

OD light and button wires need to be checked in the column.
