Just towed my broncoII to a mud race on close to flat ground and am having the temps hit 1200 easily. I have to back off the petal and i loose all my momentum.

Oh and i already installed new injectors and a pump!!!

Ordered a hypermax turbo, should be here tuesday, but why would the temps be that high?? Oh and there is a LOT of black smoke when im on it. :puke:

Sounds like you have the IP turned up to much. Also get a shop with the right equipment to check your timing.

NA motors are going to run warmer than a turboed truck. Not enough air to burn all that fuel. Once you get a turbo on there, you will be fine, may be able to turn the pump up a little further. Scotty

Like Scotty said, NA IDI's will make scarey EGT's even with the stock IP settings. The Turbo will lower you EGT's, even with the IP turned up. It makes the motor much more efficient.

That's why I think all diesels (especially NA's) should have pyrometers. Just think if you didn't have a pyro and you drove at those high EGT's unknowingly. Might melt 'er down.

Anyway, you'll love the turbo.
