I love my bench seat in my truck when it comes to comfort for a bench seat, its the best I've had. But its still a bench, and now that we have my moms 94 CC on the road again, the bucket leather seats in that thing are spoiling me.
I really like the seats in this 05 SD, as they are the closest thing I've seen to the width and overall design of the seats in my moms truck.

Fabbing up a box tube frame for the seats to bolt to would be a minor undertaking for me, I just want to know if they will fit inside my 83's cab?

The box tube frame is the easy way, I took the runners off the buckets and did just that, then bolted the frame to the original adjusters.

Yep, I think Im gonna do it! I probably wont get around to it until next spring though.
I know I can fab up whats needed to mount them, I was just unsure if I could fit the whole set in there including the middle console/seat since the SD's are wider bodies.

you are going to have your work cut out for you.
firstly, in bench config, the mount holes between the earlier vs. superduty bodies is 3in. new holes in the floor WILL have to be drilled. secondly, the superduty bench is a very snug fit when the doors are closed.
secondly, the buckets have eight mounting points. the individual buckets use four each and the center seat shares the innermost holes for the buckets. the mount pad contours are different between the drivers and passenger sides. So not only you have to have the holes right for the individual buckets, they must be just right so the center seat can bolt down too:eek:-cuss-cuss-cuss
I've been there and done that on the superduty body, it's pretty easy, all the holes on the pan is already drilled and nutserted, that way the high zoot interiors can be installed into the stripper rides. I love doing the upgrades on the newer trucks as a result, it's fairly easy money. retrofitting the newer stuff into the older trucks....now you have a workout.....cookoo

Point taken calvin. Thanks for the technicals on the setup.

I guess if it were easy though, everyone would be doing it. :)

If I see what you're talking about, that is the part that I will be fabbing up a new box tube frame for, replacing that mount.
Thanks for the pics! Now I can see how well they fit in there!

Those seats dont look too bad, but personally I think the new truck seats are uncomfortable. Dad has an 04 and it has cloth seats with the center jumpseat thing and I think they're really hard and square. The ones in the 99 were nice, those were the regular buckets, but nothing like the nice overstuffed buckets in my 94. I'm spoiled too!

Funny thing about Ford trucks in general is the seats aren't that comfortable. Gm truck buckets from siverados are more comfortable that Ford benches. Maybe a set of those with the center console can work for you too? I don't know about the seats in a Dodge but they might be worth considering too.
