And that's because you have to repair it? or just structural doesn't work? :))

So much fail in your post.

I've had 4 exhaust brakes in my Cummins powered trucks and they are awesome. 2 have been BD, 1 d-celerator by US gear, and another was a Cummins unit. All have been flawless and have helped out tremendously towing. I wouldn't just throw it in the trash.

Hi Hagan, Welcome to The Forum! I got to say for a guy with only 6 posts you certainly think very highly of your opinion over those of others. Way to make friends and influence people...

Thanks. But when someone states the exhaust brake works a couple times and fails I call ********. If you actually drove a truck with one you would be impressed. Mine is used daily and has helped a lot with towing. But my experience may be invalid because my post count is low.

No need to further discuss this. This type of exhaust brake have been used for a long time. They work great. Its not an argument or an opinion it's a fact.

I would be concerned about the valve sooting up if it's not used for long periods though. When cycled frequently it shouldn't bind.

In your opinion.

Your experience is of course valid. It's our experience with you that's lacking...

If we were talking about exhaust brakes in general then yes, but we aren’t. We are talking about antiquated aftermarket parts that were built for these trucks before the internet existed. It seems your only experience with these brakes aren’t on these IDIs, while I stated my experience with exhaust brakes on these trucks as did others, you are comparing apples to orange here.

I have had a couple exhaust brakes on 6.9-7.3s, and it is pretty amazing how well they can hold a load back, and how little foot brake pressure it takes when the EB is on.

It doesn't take long of not using one....especially if it is downstream too far, to get sticky. If the brake is adjusted to get 30psi backpressure, you will notice it for sure. the one on my personal truck is set at 40psi and does a very good job.

From what I've experienced with any of these types they work good the first few times then just become another useless part on the exhaust. They get covered in soot and start sticking open and are inoperable. Waste of money and effort in my mind but that's just what I've seen.

It should be mounted after the down pipe, so really all it's doing is putting back pressure on the turbo. I would think that's not a good idea on a turbo, (blown seals over temp ect..) but there are millions of them out there so maybe not? If I were buying a truck with one I'd pull it and pitch it right away..

It would be putting backpressure through the exhaust side of the turbo to the engine.

I have a friend that takes turbos off of these trucks "because they don't do anything".....now just need to get ahold of you, and I will be set for cheap exhaust brakes to install with the free turbo kits I get from him.

See there you go not reading the post again.

I HAVE driven several of these with exhaust brakes, and HAVE experiencend them work a few times and quit. But I guess in your mind unless you're the one saying it, the opinoin given is just BS.

And I agree there's no need to discuss this further. Anyone else who gives their opinoin or experiance with these will just be called a liar by you.
