Broken Filter Housing...

Look at the last picture under the word DRAIN and see the broken off piece of aluminum that keeps the drain lever in place. The seller posts that nothing is broken because he took care removing this from an engine... Well it sure doesn't look like it was nicely removed from an engine. I guess you could open and close the drain with a small pair of channel locks but not going to be as easy as the lever thats gone and no way will it stay in place now....

good eye! I guess you would have to know what your looking for because I am not familiar with that filter housing and first glance I couldn't tell anything was wrong. Once you notice what is wrong though it almost makes you think he knows it is missing the way he says its sold as is and is a core but he takes a close up picture of the damage so they can't say they didn't know!

That's what I see...it's about how I process vehicles for crush, yank rad and evaporator, cut cables for battery anything I can to not have to physically undo the damn stuff I take off, CUT n HACK...(Think Clyde scraop the Caddy) in one of the Clint Eastwood movies from the 70's ....we call it going Ape at the shop.....now on the other hand when I have to I do very well at removing stuff without breaking it too!

We do the same thing here. Anything junk gets chopped and separated. Good parts get the wrench treatment to avoid damage.

Cutting the lines and leaving the fittings on protects the threads and keeps the dirt out. Whats wrong with that? So long as it don't have any fuel left in it. He's gonna make about $15 off the shipping cost. Shouldn't ever need to replace the filter housing unless someone has screwed up threads on it, like on the drain valve screws or the tower inside. Don't know what year that goes on, but it's completely different than the one on my 99.5 PSD, must be much later. A new drain valve is about $42 IH.

not so much cracks,,as people forget to drain the bowl every soooo often, water collects--and corrosion sets into the bottom,,then you have holes---most guys just jb weld--with a very clean bowl bottom--
