Broke my bell housing how?

So I had been having issues with the Bronco starting. Finally got them fixed and was driving it. About 80 miles on it today and was loading up at my parents place getting ready to leave. Hit the clutch, hit the key, fired right up. Clutched it again and BANG *huh* foot goes to the floor. I expected the master cyl. to be in two pieces broken away from the firewall. No such luck. No leaks. Crawled under it and the bellhousing is split. It looks like someone grabbed the slave cyl and peeled it away from the rest of the bell. I will get pix up later (no camera with me then). Here is the rundown and thoughts.

Stock housing that came on the back of the IDI that was mated to a t-18/19(?). Could there be some kind of pressure point at the front of the NOW NP435 that caused the piviot to flex the bell at that point?

Have not pulled it apart yet. I am hoping there is some galling or a notch or something that shows the throwout bearing was hung up on the bearing support and caused it to flex and crack.

Anyone have a spare bell they want to sell or a reasonable price on a ZF? Looking for more of the *LOCAL* type thing. But knowing the closest one will probably be on one of the coasts, my hopes are not that high.

So I am praying that I have the right idea and the solution will present its self when I get it torn down tomorrow.

Sounds like the under dash issues. That or the throwout bearing was sticking on the shaft. Did the clutch peddle feel stifferover a period of time?

Not sure if I am reading this the way you meant it but the ZF has an integrated bell housing and it is part of the case and cannot be seperated (and still be usefull).

No he's asking if someone has a bellhousing for his NP435/T18/19 or either a complete ZF5. I hear the T19 bellhousings break all the time and are actually worth more than a 4 speed manual complete. You might message towcat, he may have one. Don't know if he'd want to let it go or not though. One other though, people weld the ZF bellhousings all the time, it is not normally done on a T19 bell since they are not integral to the case and can often be had for about $100 and its easier to just replace them, but with parts getting harder to find for these transmissions it may be worthwhile.... can you weld aluminum or do you know someone who can?

Answers first. Yes I can weld aluminum. BUT, I have no way to do it. Also, I THINK it peeled it so it is now curved a bit. Like I said, I took a glance at it and was pissed and got out from under it. I HATE regression on a project. And yes, I want a five speed, but I do not think my wife is down with me spending mor money on this broken, rusted, noisy, smoking, pyle of parts that I love so much.

Icanfixallexceptaninjectortester, what kind of underdash issue could cause this? Unless the master cyl was twice the size of the slave, I can not think of a reason this could happen so PLEASE let me know so I do not have the same problem twice.

I have heard both answers about the bellhousings. Yes they fit the BBF and no they are different. Someone confirm that they are different for me please. I am 99% sure they do not interchange.

If you find out that a BBF bellhousing works I have one I would sell you. It was in an '82 F250 behind a 400M engine with a T18/19. If I'm not mistaken mine is cast iron, not aluminum.

If you have to make it work you could probably drill a BBF bellhousing for a diesel but I understand they are slightly enough different that they will not just bolt up.
