These are SUPPOSED to be Bosch Duraterm plugs. From what I remember, these plugs are supposed to be as burn out proof as a plug can be.

I think its the price for a set of 8 but again Rockauto is selling them for 7.89 I believe a plug. With any of the coupons online I'm sure they could be gotten for less.

I still got lucky as hell finding 7 new Beru ZD9's on craigslist for 25 bucks.

Someone needs to put a set of these in their truck for a long term test. Someone with correct timing and no pump mods to see how long they last!!

If I needed a set I would be the lab rat for this one, but since all 8 of my Beru's are running strong, I don't need any plugs.

I was teh lab rat for them cheap Bosch plugs I got for $24.99......I bought two sets and burnt them up in a month and a half. These Bosch plugs are supposed to be bulletproof.

If they are the same as the Bosch's you get at Autozone then I burned a set up in less than a month

I don't get it because the VW crowd recommends ONLY Bosch, the 6.2/6.5 crowd recommends ONLY AC Delco's only and the IDI's are ONLY Motorcraft and nothing else. All these plugs last forever in these vehicles, but they totally suck if you run AC's in a Ford or Bosch in a GM etc. etc...

We have had a couple of large threads on here about glowplugs and how the automatic glowplug system Ford installed works. If you missed it, basically the glowplug controller is calibrated for the Ford stock wiring harness, and the heating and resistance characteristics of the Beru plug. Any change in this, and the controller is not going to act right, and the plugs are not going to heat, or they are going to heat too much.

If you want to experiment with different glowplugs on these trucks, you will have to go to a manual pushbutton and experiment manually how long to hold the button and what results you get from that.

Thanks. I understand the function of a solid state relay and I've been running Beru's after I found out the hard way many years ago. What I meant was I find it humorous that nobody makes a replacement plug for an IDI that lasts more than a week when these same companies make plugs for other vehicles that will last many years....

I'm interested most in seeing the berus vs wellmans that are self regulated Z(the dual coilers i think). I prefer my push button and with the resistor in place its not as unsafe as it would be with straight 12v

I had some bosch last for over a year until they got overglowed by someone tryign to help me start the truck. Big mistake. I think the thing with bosch is that they are hot hot hot, i used 7 second glows to start whereas now i have to do more with the berus but I will see tomorrow if it starts even remotely decent with that time.

All eight died from being glown for way too long, I had another set in and they still work but i switched to berus because they dont seem to be as easy to burn out and i didn't wanna chance it after I read some bad reviews in the past I wouldn't be afraid to run more boschs. They didn't swell or burst or anything, they looked fine. I got lucky though the truck had some champions in it when I got it :X

the automated controller isn't calibrated to work with every glowplug made for the idi... And another common misconception is that the controller lowers voltage as the plugs get hot. The plugs do that themselves as they increase resistance, all the controller does is turn the relay to them on, let them get heated up, and turn relay off when IT thinks is necessary.

I get the impression this is how it works; "hey, our glowplugs will screw into that international diesel also, let's list it in the book" with no testing at all.
