BIG Trans coolers?

In my search of less heat, more useable power I'm also searching for a monsterous trans cooler as the inline cooler built into my Champion radiator leaves me displeased.
Anyone have some links to BIG trans coolers they've put on their trucks that really work to keep their Auto nice and cool w/ trailer in tow?

I have a Tru-Cool 4739 Max, which I bought from Riley's DieselSite. (Support our advertisers). He seems to no longer sell them, or any other transmission cooler. I've had no complaints with the cooler, and it's considerably less expensive than the Ford 6.0 cooler.

The Tranny Cooler from a 6.0 Powerstorke are huge. You can find them used on ebay for a lot cheaper every now and then.

Core size is17" x 23 " x 1 1/4" Overall size with brackets is 22" x 34" x 1 1/4"

I know the 6.0 trans cooler works well.... I have never seen the trans temp climb on mine.... yes it is the stock gauge.... the only time I have seen it even close to the middle of the gauge was in the mountains, on a small winding road..... normally it is between 1/4 - 1/3 gauge

I want a 6.0L trans. cooler on my motorhome, but no room to put it!


A friend of mine has one on his 2003 7.3 PSD with a gauge and cruising the gauge sits around 140*F and climbs around 180-190*F pulling a good hill. It's never been over 190*

+1 on the 4739 by Tru-cool. Comes with a thermostatic valve that is supposed to keep the trans fluid from being to cool in below freezing weather.

I like to go with the largest I can buy at the local NAPA, on everything with an auto. After going through 3 700R4s on my GMC in 5 years (and that's not towing much) I switched to synthetic ATF, larger transmission pan, and big coolers in line after the radiators. I measured the one on the C6 today and it's about 24"x20", approximately. But it does the job well.

THe type with the fan on it is what you want, so you can mount it out of the flow of your radiator, otherwise it is adding waste heat to your radiator for it to deal with not something you need when climbing a real long grade which is when you need the tranny cooler.
Get the larger version that has the plate and fin cooler under the fan though. THis bad boy will take care of ANY cooling problems

If that doesn't fall in your budget range, there's a little trick that has been used for years that is very effective. Scrounge an AC condenser at a upullit and flush the living daylights out of it ( preferably take it to a radiator shop and have it professionally cleaned out , a day or two of soaking in their soup can get stuff out that nothing else can) As mentioned, mounting that out front will add waste heat to your radiator, but they are so bit that there aren't too many other places to fit one ( unless you have a headache rack and want to string line back there and run remote fans to it )
