I finally had had enough of blowing VR's every day , so it was suggested that I take it to someone who does Auto Electric and specializes in Alternators.
He still could not find the problem, but we did fix it (at least so far) He puton a conversion alternator with internal regulator and by passed all the other garbage.
I picked it up yesterday and so far so good, except the blower motor for the Air/heat is going out (it's always something) gonna replace that tomorrow as I am off to FL in it Friday, pulling a Horse Trailer and praying she will not let me down!
I am seriously thinking I might need to make up my mind to go ahead and put Blue up for sale and buy something newer.
So, what would a 91 F350 in decent shape (no major body damage, but needs paint and the tailgate fixed) with 239,000 miles, Ice cold air, nice toasty heat, power windows and doors be worth?

Not nearly as much as a new-er one. Honestly, if it is just some bugs I would fix them and be happy, it will cost a lot less and Yes I know it is frustrating some times but once fixed You'll want to keep it in the stable again. For what I see, it is not power You are after but reliability.

Ah yes, one of those infamous "1 wire alternators". Interesting that a specialist couldn't find the problem. I'd agree that with that kind of mileage, it won't fetch very much. Probably 2 to 3K. A newer rig and the monthly payments that come with it, could fund quite a few repairs on old Blue. If your going to get a loan, you could always just buy a rebuilt engine and trans with a warranty for it, and be good for a long time.

The Engine is strong, and I put a brand new Ford Tranny in it 3 years ago. The issues with this truck are all ODD! I drive this truck everyday to work (45 miles each way) It also pulls my 3 horse bumper pull trailer (steel) all over the place) I love this truck but it just seems that every week it is something else. I can't use my front tank because it intermittently "shuts" fuel off (mechanic says likely pick up clogged) The back tank runs out when it says 1/4 tank. This is just frustrating and I am getting to the point of not trusting my truck.
I am not planning to go buy a brand new one but was thinking a late 90's (98-99) or early 00's (01-02) F250, wish I could keep Blue and do that but that is not feasible.
I think right now I have to weigh my options at this point.

Well of course only you can decide what is right for you, but I didn't hear you describe anything that didn't sound like something a couple of hours under the truck couldn't cure. Fuel tank problems are common, and once fixed your good for another couple of decades. :dunno
