I replaced the tensioner and idler about a thousand miles ago. Thing was fine for a bit but now the belt is rubbing on the tensioner and I don’t know why. I’m not completely panicked by this right now but I know eventually it’ll just chew my belt up. The belt I have on the truck is to small in width, as you can see from the pictures, it worked fine on the old set up and when I tried to swap in a new belt that was wide enough for everything, it was way too loose. Is the belt too short and the tensioner is causing it to ride or what? This is a 93 with a 94 motor. No turbo.

Were the sheaves the same diameter?
China?
MotorCraft?
Have you checked the stock belt dimensions in the fsm?

1) You need to find the right belt to start. Should not be too loose if the right belt. So belt or the tensioner may be the wrong one. May one or the other or both are wrong. Also tell them you have a 94 since it is a 94 engine. Ask if 94 was a split year, was there was a belt change mid year.
2) As you can see the idler and tensioner do not direct the belt alignment.(Can influence if they are bent.) The groves and lips on the other components direct where the belt can run. Maybe something like your alt or a/c compressor was replaced with the wrong one causing belt misalignment. It’s try to force the belt off path. Send more pics but from the top and passenger side as your 3 pics where all driver side.
