I lost the 5.4 in my '99 250 because there was sludge in the oil pan that didn't come out in the oil change but softened up after it was driven for a while. The truck had sat for a long time before I got it and wasn't running. Not long after that I saw another oil pan full of crap like that and it made me consider (since I usually buy junk and make it live) that from now on when I buy junk vehicles that I intend to bring to life, I'm just going to pull the oil pan and clean it out.
