Bad Injectors = Exhaust Leak noise?

Hey,

I am ordering new injectors for my 6.9 soon. I have noticed over the last year that I have what sounds like an exhaust leak, but I can't find one anywhere. I have what looks like the original injectors and pump and X85,000 miles on my truck. Is it possible that these old injectors could be causing that noise?

Anyone know a good diesel repair shop close to Lapeer, MI?

Let me know what you think...Thanks,

Feel your injector lines and see if any of them are hot. An injector with a stuck pintle can make that kind of noise... it's the sound of exhaust gasses being forced back up through the injector.

Thanks, Mel and Brian.

I will check the injector lines tomorrow morning. Would this be something that is intermittent or open continuously?

Thanks,

I checked the injector lines when I got to work this morning. They were all fairly cool to the touch. I notice the exhuast leak more at higher RPM. At idle their is a slight miss. When I hear the miss, the engine shutters and I see a small pull of white/gray smoke out the tailpipe. I have cracked each injector line and each one caused the engine to stumble.

Thanks for your input,
