Just pumped out and refilled my rear diff with 80w-90 gl5.
Took her for a spin and after I got home I noticed this after looking underneath for any leaks, guessing it may be an axle seal?

Rear brakes and wheel cylinders are all new, I hadn't noticed anything on the backside of my brakes until after the fluid exchange.

Here is a better angle, and I'm pretty sure it's a Dana 60 (noticed 60-10) stamped on the top right of the diff)
Have any of y'all ever had something similar happen?

First take it off and make sure its not brake fluid.

The new oil might have loosened up a leak waiting to happen.
I just did a rear axle seal, bearing and race on my truck. All I gotta say is; If I can do it. Anyone can.

This look like a Dana 60? Haven't found a decent vin decoder online, I'll tear into it tomorrow after work. Just want to shop for part #'s tonight in case I end up needing seals. Thanks for replying

I'm thinking brake fluid here. Usually differential oil ends up coming out the bottom as well as the sides due to gravity(and usually dripping from there), but I don't see that on yours.

I'll tear into it tomorrow and try to identify the source of that fluid, started to wonder if when I removed my pump hose if I managed to fling some up onto there. I'm going to figure out for sure what rear end I have, but here is a shot of it anyways.

Semi float Dana 60. I also vote brake fluid. As previously stated, gravity usually makes gear oil only touch the bottom.

Didn't notice any fresh fluid after commuting to work this morning. But will still rule out any potential leaks later today. And finally found a Chiltons manual and a good VIN decoder, you're right, axle code C3 and it's a limited slip w/ 3.73 gears.

This link has one of the most comprehensive lists of ford axle codes-

Must have been residual from back when the old brakes leaked before they had been replaced. Should have cleaned it up better, I spend a lot of hours on here reading but don't post to often.
You guys are extremely helpful. Thanks!!
