Oh how i hate thee.

Tommorow i get to weld the cast iron up pipe from the pasenger side since i was beating it a little too hard to try and get it out. Its now in three pieces...

I hear ya! I can't for the life of me understand why ATS ever thought that was a good idea?! I will lift the cab off or pull the d$#n motor before I deal with that slip couple garbage again. Even my prybar and F-bomb technique is useless against it

Are you talking about the up pipes slip joints or the 3" down pipe slip joint? The down pipe is a big enough PITA but the up pipe joints are nearly impossible to manage without breaking them. Hence why I left my 088 up pipe section together after failing several times to get it apart. I figured if it was stuck that badly I'd break it getting it out and it would never seal properly so I'll just lift the cab off of the truck to do it from now on.

Mine broke into 3 pieces. And i had to braze them back together and they cracked, and cracked and cracked. finally got into some thicker cast and it didn;t crack anymore. But i did seal everything over with ceramic exhaust sealant just to be safe.

The amount of heat it took to get my buddies 088 to separate was absolutely insane! It wasn't until it was glowing that it finally gave... That was on a work bench there is just no way to get a stubborn 088 to separate while in the truck. Went back together pretty easily though

Rot Box - how did you get the whole thing out of the truck? if i could have gotten it in as one piece that would have saved me hours.

on my 093 system, all I did was lift the cab 4" and I had all the room in the world to slip out the turbo and uppipe in one chunk.
