Upon close inspection of my block heater cord before ever using it since I got the truck 10 months ago, it is most likely the original. The insulation is rotted with corroaded strands of wire sticking out at the plug.

After 3 nights of 20-25 degrees overnight lows and not being run in 3 days either, even with new glow plugs and a manual GP button, it was not easy to get it started this morning.

Are block heater cords all universal? I don’t want to change the heater element since I’d bet it’s still good.

Would something like this fit the oem heater element?

Oh! Reading the more detailed info on the one I linked, it actually says has a Ford plug...

That’s what I’m asking. I might just order one and carry in my old cord before I leave the store in case it’s different so I can refund it, if not.

I have bought a couple spare cords for my random vehicles block heaters at Napa.

Go to www.napaonline.com and in the search box put "block heater cord" and you can see the different cords available.

Yes, you can get just the cord.
Those 3 prong style are real common.
With the PSD, things changed. But it's still the same for a lot of vehicles. Lol
Phillips and temro is the parent company for many OEM heaters. You can search the catalog. They even have cords with the light in it on the male end.

Does my factory cord just unplug? Any chance if I pulled on it to unplug to hard it could come out of the block??
