Anyone using a condensator?

Just curious if anyone was using on of these.

My 86 F-250 had one on it when I got it and I was thinking of putting it on my IDI just for kicks to see if it actually did anything since the 86 doesn't run yet. I assume I would be running the CDR hose through it though instead of a PCV hose?

I know a couple of guys have made their own setups. One was a piece of PVC filled with steel wool with two 1" lines going in and out of it. Worked pretty good I guess. The other one someone took an old Racor fuel water seperator and did the same thing basically.

it's not a bad idea, heck it's a cheaper version of a racor ccv unit. if you have blowby issues, this will keep the unsuspecting from calling the fire dept because they think your truck is on fire from your rdt.

Not exactly cheaper than the RaCOR ccV UNIT have to read the website carefully For diesel engines with engine displacements larger than 198.5 cubic inch (3.2 liters). If diesel engine is above 5.7 liters, it is necessary to install two (2) model "D" units.
' Now 2 units at 2 hundred bucks each is darn near half again what a Racor cost for an inferior unit.

road draft tube its in the tech articles, vents the crank case gas to the open air or ran in the exhast pipe. this set up is better though because it filters it and burns it, instead of throwing it in the environment.

I was wondering why they wanted you to have 2 of these things on a big diesel. I was thinking that maybe a diesel would fill 1 canister too quickly. For the cost I wouldn't even bother, but it's already on this other truck so I may as well mess around with it. I was also thinking of putting it on the wifes jeep to see if it would help her get better mpg than my diesel.

My guess is that using a single one on a bigger engine would give you too much restriction, thereby overpressurizing your crankcase. If the crankcase gets too much pressure, it will find a way to release....typically through the front or rear main seal

That said, if you installed it inline with a venturi RDT-exhaust setup, that problem might be negated...but you'd have to try it and see, methinks...

Well I'd rather not go there as my front crank seal recently stopped leaking on it's own. Guess I'll throw this thing in the jeep while my wifes not looking.

Cool. I'd be real weary of using steel wool in anything around the engine though. Not sure how it would get hot enough but if it did you'd be screwed. Steel wool is EXTREMELY flammable. It must have alot of magnesium in it or something but i'd used it around heat sources before and it just shot into flames.

If used near oil and it did that you'd probably have a big oil fire.

Well he had a line running from the valve cover, I think into it. I think the oil would be cooled down enough to not ignite it. And yes, I've seen the stuff brun, pretty crazy.
