I recently did the 3G alt upgrade out of a windstar.... & it looks like its time to replace the alt belt as well. I'm looking at a Gates Heavy Duty V belt to replace from rockauto.... but for "Heavy Duty" the only alt belt has a description w/ ambulance prep package. No idea if my truck has this or not... can someone confirm if this belt will fit?

Do not get the long one that goes around alternator, crank & water pump. Get the one that goes around alternator and water pump. Will not bounce off.
Dayco Top Cog Gold label# 17425. Won't need idler for belt with this.

The short belt is another great idea this forum figured out many years ago. I was lucky. My alternator belt never flopped around like some I have seen. I also changed to the serpentine belt system and have never looked back. Been running the same serpentine belt of nearly 10 years now. I check it weekly as do I test all the other pulleys and idlers. Shake the fan to see if a bearing is failing too. I try to look for trouble before it finds me..
