Why do you want to add another filter? FWIW the OEM fuel filter is rated at 7 microns. I agree with Rich as to placing it on the frame rail but it would be a pre-filter and I suggest a 30 micron pre-filter. Placing it forward of the tank switch valve allows both tanks to flow through it. On my '97 which is converted I have a separate filter for each tank (both 10 microns) and the OEM fuel filter is no longer used. The fuel bowl and sensors are still intact and functional. Here's a photo of my rear tank fuel filter. The rubber hose coil is part of my coolant loop and keeps the filter toasty warm.
