Really? I wasn't sure if that was the case or if the front end was just so heavy with these big ole diesels

those air bags are sure enticing though, looks like Firestone Ride-Rite 2071 are the right ones

that's the reason why you need to convert the springs also when you go from D50 to D60.

I never priced new replacement springs > I'll call a few local spring shops today > the local 2 are for Big Rigs though $$$

Ray, I like choice #2, because they have that dodad that will help keep the pack aligned. These spring packs are not reverse arched. They just aren't arched. The add a leaf will do what you want it to. Yes getting new springs would be a swell idea, but that's a lot more money.

so i plan on lifting my truck, 2.5" in the front and 2 in the rear, could i just do add a leafs, drop down bracket if needed for the TTB, and get new shocks for ride comfort? as it is, i can feel the lines that compose a crosswalk, VERY well, as i go over them. i notice as im going down the freeway, if i hit a bump my enire frame seems to lift as if all the shocks are blown.

I put in an extra spring on the front of mine. My overall impression was that "this is dangerous...I've got to watch it". I don't like that feeling taking the spring pack apart. You could hurt yourself real easily. I did the same in the rear, and then put on airbags in the rear. I think (at least for the rear) that airbags would be sufficient. Can't say about the front because I don't have airbags there. On the compressor thing...you don't need it. All I do is run the inflator tube out to a handy point on the body and connect it to a schrader valve. I then use a bicycle pump with a gage on it to adjust the pressure (and height).

I dont know about expensive. I can get a pair of new front springs for about 250 or less

Mine don't have that cause i bought the rough country ones, I was worried about them moving but to be honest i think the force against the other springs doesn't let them move cause mine haven't moved at all (and that's with going over plowed fields and trails). That being said i like those ones more to cause to me that dodad is cheap insurance against any problems.

Hey Ray,.

I have done the add a leafs on 4 trucks, 3 were my personal trucks and I still own 2 of them ,Big Ed and Droopy,..It worked well on all accounts, lifted it up as stated and did not affect ride quality. They are the best bang for the buck for leveling your truck.

If you want better ride quality, install a set of Billestiens,.well worth the money. But bottom line,..they are still HD Trucks, they will ride like they ride,..

Shocks will affect the softness of a ride very little. They mostly keep the truck from continuously bouncing. Ever seen a truck without shocks? You can pick up and down on it a little and it will continue to bounce up and down. Hince the leaf and or coil springs.

I dont see how people with dana 50's are putting these add-a-leafs on and not having to deal with the huge camber adjustment needed. Whats the secret here?

Also the airbags on the dana 50, to me, would seem like they would throw the alignment off everytime you adjust them, but idk.

The secret is to start out with huge camber issues. The add-a-leafs fix said huge camber issue. If i can find them i will try and post the print outs of my alignment before and after i put the add-a-leafs in.
