We have a 6.9 in a 79 f-50 body. It has finally gotten to be a reliable daily driver. We would like to add a tach, but using a factory cluster won't work since it is in a 79 body. Has anybody used any after market tachs with the factory sender? In all of the research I have done both here and elsewhere, I cannot seem to find an answer.

Thanks!

I believe the AutoMeter uses a large band clamp to attach the inductive pickup to the alternator. The Isspro is a very nice unit and has a very nice inductive pickup that attaches 2 magnets to your harmonic balancer then you bolt a small inductive pickup near the balancer to complete the circuit. In my research the Isspro seems like the best aftermarket solution. I believe the tach is in the $150-175 range and the pickup is around $65.
