Yeah, my foot is getting sore, I keep shooting it.
7.3 idiT. in a 02/94 F350 CC Duallie.

Advisability of wrapping the turbo in a blanket? The down pipe should get wrapped but not enough room.

My biggest desire might be to insulate surrounding components from the heat emitted from the turbo.
Now to see if I can remember where I saw them awhile ago,

a true factory turbo had heat shielding on up pipes, squished down pipe, and turbo exhaust housing.
my ats 093 with a full 3'' down pipe has dei titanium heat wrap on both up pipe and down pipe with plenty of clearance. and it definitely keeps heat out of the cab very well, very happy with it.

I agree it helps keep heat put of the cab and under the hood. It would get stupid hot under there before I put a blanket on it. I also wrapped the crossover pipe and between the two I get a little better boost.
For reference i got a cheap knock off "titanium" t3 blanket on Amazon and you can touch that with you bare hand after a hard pull. I couldn't believe how well it works.

I believe that even one of those cheap, poorly fitting universal blankets is MUCH better than nothing. I'm going to install one of those on all of my turbos before driving the trucks. I see no reason not to. I may even get one of the square/rectangle shaped ones and use it to cover my wiring and return lines that are right underneath the turbo.

The cheap, ill-fitting turbo blanket I put on my RV's ATS 085 in 2019. The up pipe is wrapped also, done by a past owner.

Just search on ebay for "Turbo Blanket" and you get more than 2000 hits ;) I put one on mine when I added the factory turbo setup (and Banks downpipe) to my 7.3 NA. Seems to do what it's supposed to.
I am thinking of wrapping that long crossover pipe too, but I don't want it to rust out which I've read can be a problem with wrapping... thoughts?

I had the one for my Blue Truck cera coated. No rust issues now. I'll probably do the same thing for the Ex Wife when I get that far.
