Hey Y'all, My dad and I have a 2004 Ford F250 2WD Ext.Cab Longbed, with a 5.4 triton and a 4r100 with 3.73's. For a stock truck with only 330 CID, we've been impressed time and time again with it. I found in the local Truck Trader a 2005 F350 Crew Dually V10 6Speed handshaker with 4.10's and 4WD, and I was wondering what your'all's take on the 3Valve V10 is. It would seem to me that It'd be a monster compared to the 5.4 which (to us) already has an outstanding amount of low end torque, due to the fact that it's the same spec's as a 5.4, just 2 more Cylinders.

V-10's will make our E-450 14 passenger buses with wheelchair lift boogy at 70 mph all day long. i was really impressed with em, both the 2V and the new 3V.

I test Drove a 99, 2Valve V10, 5spd, Flatbed that pulled good, but the low end and acceleration just wasn't there like it is on the 5.4 F250 I talked about.

The V10 likes gas!!!!! I know on the early models, they had the same trouble with the spark plug holes as the 5.4 V8...

Good motor that needs a programmer and a free flow exhaust system from front to back. Pulls good, but harsh on the gogo juice.

I Realize that any gasser is gonna be a bit of a slouch when compared to a diesel, but sometimes i think i'd be more willing to sacrifice a bit of fuel economy in order to be able to burn cheaper fuel. Like I said in the thread starter, I think the 5.4 is a ballsy engine, and i can't help but imagine that the V10 would be a torque monster compared to the V8. Plus I kinda like the sound of a V10.

On a V8, or V10. If on a V10, what trans and rear end does it have in it?

X2..... If this is on a V10 Holy Snikies!!!!! I know a couple of people that have the V10 and if the see 15 it is downhill with a tailwind. I know that whne people drive the snot out of them, or load them down they are a single digit fuel economy engine. A buddy of mine has one in a small class c motorhome and he has to drive at something like 55-60 to squeek 12 outta it. I understand, this is not an apples to apples comparison..... but he has to drive it like a civic hybrid........ 0-60 in 2 days to keep the economy up. I dont see much difference in weight and profile though vs a Class C motorhome and a big, heavy trailer..... Big and heavy, is big and heavy.....

I had a 2000 V10 4x4 and loved it.Sounded wicked,Could get rev the hell out of it being and OHC engine.Never had a problem since it had the updated heads from the factory.Early models had the Spark plug mortar tube factory.Later models(can't remember the exact year) had thicker areas with more threads and I think steel inserts.Mine had the Auto and 410 gears(I think).Only got 12MPG on the highway.

Damn! you guys must really drive it easy. We don't even dream of seeing that on our 5.4, and it has 3.73's in it! You never did say what it's in though?
