From what I have seen they will hold huge power, just dont try to back up a load with one, and gv used to say not to use one during engine braking.
I have owned and used several of them and really do like them. They do have some limitations though.
Are you referring to a GV? Just curious. We used them backwards for an underdrive in Pro 2 off-road trucks and they never broke all season. Rebuilt the tranny after every weekend but the GV got sent in once a year.

That's what happens with these when they have 4.10s and no overdrive.
Mine is 410's, stock size 285's and 3000 rpm is 60mph. that is why I am here reading. Since they raised speed limits on class A two lanes to 65mph I feel like I am going to get rear ended at 55, and 65 is out of the question.

Gv can break in reverse even if not engaged. It is the weak spot in them.....other than hanging a mile off the back of the t case.....steep driveshaft angles and/or wheel hop is bad for them.
I am not concerned with breakage, but I am concerned with drive shaft angle. I have only seen pics of a GV on 2wd, and that long adapter would put it way too far back. My truck is an air force ambulance and looks to be built on a reg cab/8' box chassis, one piece driveshaft from transfer case. The stock Driveshaft angle is about as far as I want to go. I am debating a gear change/GV myself. Concerned about 355's in off road situations and from dead stop. I do have low range if need be for off road, but at a stop light that is not an option. wish I knew someone close with a 6.9/355/C6, but these trucks have all been claimed by rust up here.
