Ok it was. Does anyone know who bought this thing?

http://bringatrailer.com/2012/02/03/bat-exclusive-ex-government-1992-ford-f350-4x4/

1992 Ford F350 Custom 4×4 was owned by the U.S. Government and is offered for sale by the first civilian owner. It has only 22k miles, and the seller has no official records of how it served while government property, but does say he found paperwork that looked like CIA training material. Whatever it was, the dark color and 4×4 make it look purposeful now, and everything on the truck is in working order. The seller has driven it from SoCal to Seattle and back without issue, and it is now available in Palm Springs, California for $8000 obo.

I think that was a steal for that kind of money.

I have seen some of those on Government Liquidation but most are beat to hell and don't run and have high miles... a 92 F-350 4x4 5speed the other day with 48k with 10k on the rebuilt engine went for $850.

You also have to understand that mileages in the military doesnt mean crap. Most military trucks i have seen will have a odometer reading 3000miles on a 30yr old truck cause when they go bad they just slap a new one in it that is new and has 0 miles or 0 hours on it. They arent required like we are to have it calibrated to actual mileage when its replaced So it might say 22k but it could be 50, 40, or 400,000 miles.

Is it the low mileage (unknown idle time) that makes it worth $8,000?

Or is it the ex-GOV utility style that makes it worth $8,000?

I'm curious because I'm sitting on a few legit ex-GOV 7.3 IDI E350 combat troop carriers that were also used for covert surveillance. And they have a lot more James Bond modifications than that truck. Hell, I'm still finding all kinds of stuff buried inside them. All Uncle Sammy did was remove the NVGs, weapons & ammo, pull the HF/UHF/VHF/satellite radios, and clip the wires.

I'd be happy getting $8,000 for one. Miles are from 150k to 260k.
