I also have this truck for sale. I have two trucks now and only need or can afford to insure and license 1 so which ever trucks sells first I will keep the other. I only pull my toyhauler to the dunes for fun and don't use the trucks for anything else anymore. they are both good trucks and work very well. if you would like better pics pm me and I can e-mail them to you. I have put some money into this truck in the past 4 -5 years more than I am asking for it. I have the banks sidewinder turbo kit for this truck but it is missing a few parts like the pipes for starters, I did check and you can still buy the parts. I would sell it for an extra $500.00 if anyone is interested.

how do you like the 3.73 gears? i am assuming you changed from 3.55s. with my 3.55s, i am at 2k at 65, 2300 at 75, and 2500 at 80. how do yours compare? does it seem to pull better?

I have never changed the gears, I have owned the truck since 120k and it now has 225k miles on it. I believe the tag is still on the axle and it was a 3.73 factory as far a I know. at 75 I am at 2800 and at 80 i am at 3000, at 65 I am at 24 ish rpm in 5th gear.
it pulls really good for the most part. when I am pulling a 6 - 7 k lb load in a side wind up a steep grade I lose 10 mile an hour on a 3 mile long climb in 5th gear trying to maintain 75mph.

sounds like 4.10s to me

well it looks like the tag on the axle says 3.73 but the sticker in the door and the owners manual say 4:10. I drove a buddy's truck once and he said he had 4:10 rear end and that truck was geared deeper than either of mine. he must have had a 4:88 or 5:10?

really, wow. at 2k im doing 65-67. thats a big difference. i figured with 3.73s, it would be somewhere around 60-62 at 2k. 3.73s really arent that much difference... unloaded, i dont mind 3.55s, especially for the fuel economy. but any load seems to make the truck work. 4.10s would be too much as i dont tow that heavy.

I don't know about 50mph but at 75 the tach reads 2700 rpm (roughly) with 235x85's and that is what the sticker in the door says the truck came with so that is what I replaced the tires with last year. I can also tell you that in 4th gear at 70mph the tach reads 3k rpm. my last trip to the dunes I fought a head wind all the way across 2 states and had to run 4th gear most the time and at 65 mph pulling 6500-7k lb enclosed trailer the truck only gets 10 mpg, not so great! when I can run 5th I get 14's pulling that same load on the same drive. unloaded it does great! now the 95 powerstroke I have has a limited slip rear diff according to the owners manual and sticker in the door and runs the same rpm's in overdrive as this manual does.

what kind of fuel mileage are you getting with the 3.55's unloaded and loaded?

i dont calculate anymore. when i first got the truck last summer, it had the original pump and injectors with the return lines leaking, i mean gushing, no turbo, and i was getting 13 unloaded. i have replaced those and added a turbo, but the returns are still damp/ not gushing and both my tanks leak now, but loaded with a slide in and pulling a heavy early 70's 14 foot camper plus all our gear, i was getting a tick over 10. that was at 75-80 mph and i said earlier it was at 24-2500. i was in a hurry. my motor does have a bit of blowby and oil consumption, so i dont think its top notch. i have not bothered doing an unloaded calculation. next time i take a longer unloaded trip, i would check.
