What kind of truck do you have? Sounds like something is wrong with it if it's that slow.
A ford! LoL..87 f250 with a 6.9,4speed and 3.55 gears. Fuel turned up as much as I dare and the timing set with my meter.

With a /brand new/, 5k mile 7.3 and banks turbo, and E4OD.

Now... worn out NA IDIs will put down a lot less HP, as far as I can tell, so they would be much slower.
One local 7.3 put down 85 HP at the wheels(vs the 135 for a new 92)...

Here's another point of reference: "Project 300", with a worn 6.9 making a whopping 95 HP at the wheels: http://www.trucktrend.com/how-to/engine/0905dp-1987-ford-f250-buildup/photo-gallery/#photo-12

Also, this calc seems fun to play with... the numbers seem reasonable: http://www.060calculator.com/
Using that calc, for a 6,600 lb truck(about what my 88-93 extended cab long bed IDIs weigh), and using a factor of 1.37 for RWHP vs crank HP(185 rated HP vs 135 wheel HP new) would mean a 90RWHP IDI would do a 0-60 in about 16.5 seconds.
