    According to the shop manual thread sealant is to be used on the top two and bottom two bolts of the water pump. As for brands I got a new GMB unit from advance and so far so good.

    will powerstroke starters fit my idi?

    I need a new starter for my 1993 f350 7.3 idi turbo 5speed. I currently have the long direct drive starter. Are the direct drive ones better than the offset ones I see for sale or not? Also, will a starter off a powerstroke fit my truck? What starters do you guys recommend? Thanks for the help.

    Any way to remove fan clutch without buying specialty tool(s)?

    believe what you want but ive removed many fans with an air hammer and not one problem. Its unbelievable how hard the metal is that makes up those bearings and an air hammer wont harm it.

    well i cleaned off the timing marks and the pump mark is almost a 1/4 inch to the drivers side of the mark on the block, so i really think i need to bump up my timing. I want to try just lining up the marks, but i cant seem to get at the bottom bolt. do you guys have a trick to getting that...

    which way do you turn the pump to advance timing? Also do you have to loosen the injector lines for it to move or can you get away without doing that?

    I dont know if the injectors were ever replaced or the pump. The pump seems to have this pink stuff on some of the adjustment screws almost as a tamper evident device, so maybe it was messed with. Is there a way to tell?     Not quite the most expensive IDI I've ever seen...

    That makes me feel good about paying 5k for my truck, especially since although the truck advertised has the nicer fold down console seat and is 1 year newer, mine has half the mileage and is a 5 speed. And only 65 trucks were optioned the way mine was.
