Thank you for this suggestion. I cant believe I was going to try this without access from the top. It took more than 5 minutes but nowhere near a day. Maybe a half hour.
Well....ok 5 minutes was a bit optimistic. Glad it worked out well for ya.
While you have your kick panels pulled; If your...
I would strongly suggest pulling the seat, roll the carpet and insulation back, unbolt and remove the dog house. I've done it with the dog house installed....once. I won't pull my transmission without removing it now. It's well worth the 5 minutes spent.
Good luck!
I'll throw this out here, when I first got my truck it was exhibiting the same symptoms and I spent weeks chasing what everyone including myself was diagnosing as an air intrusion problem ( the glow plugs seemed to cycle for the proper length of time and when the glow plug light went out I would...
I just did mine yesterday as a matter of fact. There was no difference in carrier bearing direction. I did not put the shield back on. It seemed to me it would not get tight enough to stop dirt and mud from entering the bearing so I left it off. I don't know if that was a good decision or not...
Power steering pump a/c front view
Power steering a/c driver side view
Power steering a/c bracket
That's all I have time for now, hope it helps. Happy Easter.
Admittedly I may be way of base here but, when I first got my truck it was doing the same thing. The culprit was bad glow plug wiring causing the glow plugs to short cycle and not heat. Just a thought....
^^^ The two yellow glow plug feed wires were the gp issue on my truck. The gentleman I bought it from said it never did start worth a "darn". (He wasn't kidding, not even in the summer) Using a volt meter I found 11 volts at the glow plug relay. While back tracking the yellow wires I found the...
All good info. I'll be out of town all next week and it's not looking good for the home team work wise for the reminder of this week. I'll take some pics as I go and share my results. I'm definitely going to start easy I have a propensity to "over do things" as my wife politely reminds me. Cheers!
I installed a Luk kit on my '87 this past summer. I retained whatever clutch slave and master were on it when I started. I did however add the Ford small clutch master cylinder brace kit (less then $30.00) while everything was disassembled. I did have one (visible) fatigue crack next to the...
10-4. This probably goes without saying but the paint looks nice when wet, then back to dull when she drys. I'd like to retain the shiny wet look. Maybe I'm crazy, dunno...
Thanks for the info fellas!
Now that spring has sprung I'm looking for suggestions on the best practice to restore the oxidized paint on my truck. After hand washing the truck four times the rag is no longer pulling red and white pigment from the body. I have read several articles on both buffing and clay barring. Rather...
Tires I have recently run on my 3/4's (All were 10 ply):
265/75/16 Wild Country AT2-Good snow traction, so-so in mud light drone on the interstate.
265/75/16 Goodyear Silent Armor-Very good in snow, as good as Wild Country's in mud. Kinda sounds like a pack of Africanized bees following...
I just pulled my ZF apart and put it back together with the help of the tech articles on this forum of course. I used no special pullers just a simple Harbor Freight three jaw in pic. To pull the remainder of the gears and synchro hubs I used a giant (like 2 foot long 2 jaw puller). I stripped...
Thanks 79jasper, the transmission noise you helped me out with earlier is completely gone. It shifts fine, I have no idea how our why the noise is gone but it is.
I bought this truck last spring for an elk hunt. I was looking for something with some character. I learned a lot from this site, my thanks to everyone! In the 8 months I've owned it I have replaced the return lines, installed the front fuel tank (which was in the bed when I purchased it) full...
I bought my'87 this past summer while replacing the heater hoses one of the pressed in aluminum lines in the aftermarket aluminum heater core came out with the hose. I bought the proper copper Ford heater core. Brother let me tell you; that thing transfers some heat! No problem keeping the truck...
