Add me to the list of unhappy red head owners. My steering was much harder to the left than to the right. Went through everything and finally swapped back to my old box. Problem solved. Other than a little slop it's fine. They will be getting a call from me.

Remember it's not that the gear returns it to center but it has to let it come back to center and not fight it.
Yes and that stupid adjustment nut screw on top plays into that demonstrably by slackening it off. I paint markr 1/2 of the slot bolt and adjust 1/8-1/4 turn at a time retighten locknut and test drive....

Just sayin

Thanks for the info! I read this thread entirely... seems they had a bad run for a bit. But theres still lots of pleased people. Stewed about it for a few days and got one ordered. Seemed the parts store rebuilt ones dont live very long... i dunno, hope they send me a good one i guess. Lol

I like the finish on them. the steering on my truck is very tite. you get what you pay for.

Mine is installed so we will see how i like it once she is back on the road again. Fingers crossed all is well with mine too!

Got old back on the road today! Red head installed.

Steering seems tighter pointed straight forward - i suppose its the most apt to wear. Not super offensive, but noticeable.

There is 0 play in the box. So far am pleased.

My steering was nice and tight but the power assist was uneven. It steered much harder one way than the other.
