Fellers can I bug the spray outta Ya fer about 10 days with a wide assortment of questions when it comes to this truck? I done tore into er shoulders and razzhole deep and am not that great at mechanics on PURE OLD SCHOOL MECHANICAL DIESEL POWER but I have a burning desire to git ol gurl back on the road and the determination of an...well a slough of determination. This is where I'm at thus far. I'm about to pull out transmission (probably should've done that before pulling engine by myself but..) I'm looking to pressure wash EVERYTHING. Any big no nose that I shouldn't pressure wash? Was gonna do piston tops too and when I get oil pan off after the wash was gonna use some home filtered oil to run through engine a few times and catch in a lower pan to help get water out or just skip pressure washing headless top of engine? Thanks in advance to those that will answer questions:Thumbs Up

Found online to push down on the round keeper and spin left to remove gear shift but to no avail, don't have any fancy U teeth shaped pliers so tried to use to pop rivet heads (removed nail) one on each side and some vise grips to depress orange/red tabs enough to remove gear shift shaft but to no avail, gonna screw around under the truck for long enough to get everything else loose for tranny removal then gonna git a drill bit and drill out these orange/red tabs, will go back with proper bolt and nut unless there's a better way :dunno

Could be stuck. I think it's the same as the sm465 I had. That ball looking piece is supposed to push down and twist. I just don't know which direction to turn it. Lol
Mine had some roll pins. Eventually got loose enough to fall out. Talk about fun trying to shift.

That piece is tightened on like a nut.....not the push and turn style. Watch for the pin on the left side as you pull the shifter out.

My advice is DO NOT power wash the engine. I think you'll be causing yourself a lot of trouble. I don't think that you can get all of the water out of the engine without completely disassembling it.

Agreed. I would only power wash the engine if it was completely disassembled and you would still need to be pretty diligent about getting all the water out.
