So I've got a 7.3 idi out of a 92/93 f350 with banks turbo stuffed into a 87 Bronco. Been a dream setup bought it halfway done. My first diesel.

So I'm not sure on some parts and where they hook up. What's this, where it mount what hooks up to it?
Drivers side about middle of valve cover is where it lays.

Thanks in advance.

That is (I believe) your cruise control servo. It mounts on the driver's side fender.

Yep it sure dose look like the cruise control...mounts over on the driver fender mounts under the two fender bolts or next two them I’m not a big fan of them so I kinda forget how it mounts...but you’ll run into it being unbolted on my trucks and just laying their because I’m to lazy to remount it after replacing the fender but I will eventually get it bolted back up

Well, what ever automatic was bolted into it is long gone. Gone manual. So I'll just have to add to junk pile. Far has electrical, anything I need to bypass? Or unplug and tuck it away?

If your wanting to remove it permanently..just unhook the cable off the throttle cable..then simply remove the vacuum hose at the vacuum manifold 92-96 is on the driver inner fender I believe and 87-91 is up on the passenger side fire wall then just use a vacuum plug on it...then There should also be a vacuum hose going to the brake pedal bracket through the fire wall with some wires with the vacuum hose for it so when you hit your brakes it turns it off I believe... just follow the wire harness and hoses and just remove them..now when I removed the cruise control off my 88 f250 it was a pain in the A** to do it when I swapped it to manual I removed it and if I just waited for when I did the 92-96 dash swap in it and front clip...it would have been a lot easier but it is doable but it’s just so much crap up behind the dash and but it was even harder for me with the bench seat and a 6.5” lift and 37” it will kill your back really quick

Great info. There's no vacuum line. Do you know where the source is so I can make sure it's capped?

I'll most likely label and tape the plug up. Never know what I want to do, hell might lose a leg and hafta go automatic

My rig in my signature has cruise control, 5-speed from the factory. What does going auto have to do with cc? I'm curious

You gotta swap the column to go to an auto from a manual, different harness for the buttons on the steering wheel since it includes the od button on the selector, but if you got a auto cc column and took the harness for the cc with it, it would be plug and play.

Slushboxes, or automatics, can use cruise control, not manuals.
Because the cruise control increases/ decreases engine RPM to match set speed. Using a manual the cruise control would send rpms past the redline, trying to get to set speed.

Of course unless there is other technology involved

That’s not true, plenty of manuals have cruise control. I’ve driven home using cruise control when the throttle cable snapped.

Yeah, he's done some massive work to dash and column. Can't wait to dive into that....my plan is to get the engine bay, fuel and brakes ready to run then reluctantly dive into the dash..... then seats.... <sigh> positive note is the P.O. has done things quite well so far.

I assume when you need to shift gears, the vehicle sort of "drops back"( lack of better term). Until you shift?

Maybe you didnt read my post you quoted? I have a 5 speed MANUAL. With FACTORY cruise control. It works great I just never use CC, helps me be sleepy behind the wheel.

But anywho the point is that auto or manual you can use that servo, assuming you have the correlating control unit/wizardry that runs them. I wouldn't be much help for the rest of that particular system, obviously, lol. :D

The system is based off of vehicle speed commanded, so you set cruise at 50 it will adjust throttle position to achieve that commanded speed if possible. If the load is too great it will go to wot and just slow down. Inputs like the brake pedal switch and clutch pedal switch automatically cancel the activation for the cruise control, so it just goes to idle when you clutch in to change gears.
