Not always. I had a 1995 ****** with a 5 speed and cruise. If you shifted with the cruise set, The engine would rev pretty high. I never tried to see how high it would go since it was the brand only new vehicle that I'll ever own. The real trick (and it's not much of one) with a manual trans and cruise is to set the cruise when you're already at, or near to, highway speed and done shifting. It's called "cruise" for a reason.Inputs like the brake pedal switch and clutch pedal switch automatically cancel the activation for the cruise control, so it just goes to idle when you clutch in to change gears.

I've really only had two vehicles in my life that had properly working cruise control. That ****** and the 1980 Datsun 280ZX that I still wish I had.
