Ok so I installed the resistor and went for a drive and it promptly went into limp mode just like when I didnt have the resistor. Codes say converter clutch failure (obv) and shift solenoid 1 failure? maybe this is a different issue alltogether.
So my truck for a while now has had a problem with the torque converter randomly locking and unlocking while on the highway and it was driving me up the wall. I cleaned and greased every switch and sensor I could find and traced every wire. So rather than let my converter destroy itself I...
I've been fighting the same problem too. If you unhook the batteries and reset the computer it will make it stop for a few days I've notcied. I replaced the fipl, vss, and tach sensor and it still does it so I'm going to try cleaning all the connections and maybe the turn signal switch next...
Try craigslist. I picked up a nice reading box for my flatbed for $50 but I may end up selling it and make some custom ones. If you search craigslist use words like "underbed or underbody" I had more luck finding some that way.
Well it did it again tonight :dunno only this time it was under the dash and it was fuse #8. This seems to be occuring randomly because I replaced the fuse and went for a 30 min drive and it was fine. I guess I'll see how it acts on the way to work tomorrow. Hopefully I dont end up having to...
Figured it out finally, it was actualy a fuse, but it was in the power distrubution box under the hood. I replaced it, unhooked the batts for 10 mins, and added some dielectric grease on the speed sensor plug and everything seems to be fine now. Thanks guys ;Sweet
So I pulled out of my driveway and my truck wouldnt shift out of first gear. I notcied the o/d light was flashing and the speedo was on zero, so I figured it must be the vss on the rear axle. But then I notcied the odometer wasnt on :dunno so now I'm lost. Any ideas on what can make the odometer...
Check your tach sensor. My truck just started doing this again and I knew it wasn't my wiring cause I just redid it so I started looking under the hood. The insulation on my tach sensor (original most likey) had rubbed off and the wires must have been touching each other with the vibration from...
I'm thinking of replacing my FIPL and notcied there is a grey one on rockauto.com. I seem to remember hearing that this is an updated version? Can anyone confirm or should I buy the cheaper black one.
Thanks
Derek
