When I start my 88 F250, the harness going into the controller smokes. This only lasts for about 8-10 seconds. All 8 glow plugs suddenly burned out a a couple of weeks ago, so I think this is all related.
Does this sound like a bad glow plug controller to you all, or would this be something...
I am resurecting an old post because I just came across my old aftermarket cruise control box(I used it to store something else in). It uses a magnet on the drive line for models not equiped with a VSS (whatever that is). Now the real info.
It is an Audiovox model CCS-100. I bought this...
My wipers (90 f350) started growling and refusing to return to the park position. The intermitent wipers also are eratic. Sometimes they only move half an arc with each cycle. These problems came on gradually with the park and int. Wiper actually showing up first.
What I have already done...
My 88 F250 was getting hot like that. I replaced the thermostat with an International one, the fan clutch and water pump and it still got hot. Next I looked at the radiator which looked fairly recent and had no leaks. It was an aftermarket radiator. I replaced it with an OEM and guess what...
You are correct that it is a ***** to get those 4 nuts off and an even bigger ***** to get them back on without loosing at least one. I have learned to take a small square of tissue paper and wedge the nut into the wrench or socket to keep it from falling out. That works pretty well and...
TL Brewer, as a tax payer thanks for going the extra mile to save a government asset. As a former C-130 crew member, I believe I would have believed that I could run faster with out the battery and made like a race horse.
Really, the happiest time period in my life was while I was...
I installed a set of relays on my 88 and I am pleased. The relays were included in a complete harness that I got after an internet search. I don't remember the vender. The good thing about the setup was that It just plugged into one of the headlight sockets and provided two new headlight...
I didn't receive that postcard. I have two trucks with the Banks Sidewinder and have had one with an older style Banks. I think they are actually excellent turbos. The kit was complete from turbo to exhaust and was easy to isntall. Just my opinion.

On my 84, I was able to replace the glow plugs with 12 volt glow plugs and the maunual switch. They were rated for constant duty and you couldn't burn them out. I never found a temp condition that I couldn't start that truck. Not a good idea to start it up when it is really cold without...
It is difficult to keep the seal in the proper place in the valley pan while placing the turbo in its location. I have had to fish that thing out of the valley several times during my turbo installations. The seal is a rubber "O Ring" type of thing with a grove along the outside that fits into...
Can fuel get by the rings? I doubt that much fuel would make it by the rings, without having lots of oil getting by the other direction and causing a runaway. Just thinking out loud.

Ramon, how did you by pass the RABS. I would like to do this on my 90 F350. Did you cut lines or were you able to unscrew the lines that go into and out of the RABS and make a splice? This might seem like a dumb question, but it would sure help me out on my truck.
thanks

Thanks Agnem for suggesting a location for getting a good oil pressure reading. I finally got that done today and I now have 65 Lbs at startup, 43 lbs at warm cruise, and 23 lbs at idle. Thanks again.

Thanks for the explanation. Makes sense to me. One thing I would like to add on edit is that my F250 that had the old style banks without the wastegate still smoked on acceleration and some on steep hills. It would loose boost if the engine went to lugging at all. My two trucks with the...
