Steering column moving when clutch depressed

Hey all,

I noticed today that when I press the clutch down on my 91 the steering column moves over to the left a hair and comes back when I let up.

Is this normal or is something loose? Where should I start looking?

I did NOT notice any cracks in the firewall last year when I was intentionally looking for them. Occasionally when I depress the clutch pedal I hear a clunk behind the dash. Not all the time though.

I would make sure both bolts holding the column to the cast dash frame thing are tight, they are oval holes so that may be the cause

Though no cracks the plate on engine bay side could be seperating.

I suggest have someone press clutch and u watch firewall in engine bay.

Also look into the Major kit for firwall reinforcement....it made a huge difference to my wheel doing what yours is doing.

I'm certain they are because I replaced the column but I think I have a tighter column I want to swap anyway so we'll see then.

@riotwarrior You were supposed to just tell me to tighten this bolt here to fix it not spend more money on it thanks for the input, I was hoping to avoid that but if it has to be done it has to be done!
