Ford Factory turbo - replacement or aftermarket intake?

I'm currently working on a '88 F-350 with a '94 factory turbo motor in it.
Someone previously had replaced the stock intake with a hacked-up rubber boot L(with a hole cut for the CDR tube, JB welded in place), a piece of straight metal pipe and a 4" cone filter(K&N knockoff).

Obviously, this is complete sh*t, leaking in several places.

I need to replace this. But with what?

I can either find a replacement stock intake - If I can find one for a reasonable amount of money(or one of you has one spare cheap), that would be a decent, turn-key option.

Otherwise, does anyone have any good ideas on what to do?

Basically, I need a complete replacement setup from the intake of the turbo to the air cleaner. So I need to provision an L, CDR vent connector, and air filter.

Ideas?

Not handy, but I might get one tomorrow.

Either way, the only important part is that it's a "factory turbo" motor(with turbo) - just missing the (correct) intake from the turbo on out. The pressure side of the turbo is just fine.

Ah I see, well Justin sells an intake kit but I would just buy the cheapest eBay intercooler piping kit and a 6637 filter and call it good

I have an extra 093 "Ford" cast air intake housing. I'm in western Oregon, North Idaho isn't terribly far, probably wouldn't be a real bear in shipping costs. Toss me an offer, or like @Thewespaul said the kit R&D has is pretty nice, and it opens the engine bay up. The ********* box is a bit cumbersome as it comes off for nearly every time something needs done.

EDIT: I know you have dealt with the factory box as you own one, I'm just hoping to goad you into buying the cold air kit so I can hear it's worth it ;burnout

Yeah, that might be a good option.

Nah, I looked at the price and went.... I can *make* one for 1/4 that. I'd just use one big ell and slap a filter on it. The hard part would be the CDR, but if I use steel piping, I could just MIG weld it.

This is for a rig for a friend of mine, so keeping it cheap is important.

Cdr can go to atmosphere or just run a tube into the intake pipe like you’re saying

Looks like Pork_Chop50 is going to get me straightened out. Thanks!

Oh - one other question for anyone who might know:
CDR grommet for the valve-cover mounted CDR valve.
Is this available anywhere? Any p/n's?

I am curious why you want the stock air cleaner assembly?
I absolutely love my R&D Cold air intake for exactly that reason. It opens up the engine bay so much. 3 clamps and its out of the way. That was the whole reason I got the cai not just the whistley noises, thought they are nice!

Not worth it for the price, though...

Yep with a little tubing and a filter you can have the same thing for less than $100. Some people prefer a bolt on kit tho

On my own rigs, I'll probably take some piping and make my own... on this rig, though... it makes no real difference in power and is a cheap, easy option to go with stock.
