Fitting Valve Guide Boss in a 7.3 Head?

Thats a great pic of machining issues with the intake seats. This is why I mentioned the leaky issues doing this. Really not much can be done with that head now but.. If this was the last head on earth I sure would braise that up and modify the intake seat by grinding a relief in it around that area. There is not the heat around this seat like would be found around an exhaust seat. So I feel some seat modifications can be done.

Time to do a bit of house keeping on some of my posts.
When I contacted DCW about the issue they help me out with repair advice and the correct parts to use. After I had the repairs done over here they reimbursed me the costs.
I would buy from them again.

Really happy to learn DCW stood behind their mistake and paid for it. That effort on their part goes a long ways to me buying from them again. Its too bad many other shops wont stand up when a mistake is made. A dissatisfied customer can ruin business. Hope you are close to driving your truck.

PwrSmoke that is how I have replaced valve guides on motorcycle engines. The Honda engines I've done have had press in guides. So just clean carbon out of port, use tool on air chisel to remove, same for install (heat head and cool guide to ease install), ream new guide once installed, check valve to guide clearance and ream to size as required if too tight. The brass liners I think are fine for guides cast as one with the head, but knurling guides is cheaping out and a short term fix as they will wear more rapidly afterward.
