Well wifey drove my accord till the brakes started grinding. I saved it just in time because the wear indicaters were making the grinding noise they are designed to. A set of pada for $19.00 is all it costs and its fine now but.. She drove the diesel and crashed it today. Stupid school sup had maintance install these silly pipe gates and the gates stick out in the wrong positions and she stabbed the drivers side front fender just in front of the door and below the F350 badge. Its not too deep but the door wont open without the door pushing against the fender seem. Whats involved in removing the fender. 89 F350. Nothing special but its mine and I'm sick to hell letting her drive and wreck everything we have. She sucks. I know.. Its just a old truck but gees man. Look around you. I may try to hold the school distric responsible for the low gates with not even a proper placement of them. Really kinda a sad place I'm in now. Can't use the drivers door so I have to "fix it" so I don't forget and try to open it from inside or outside. Probably some tape over the outside key lock and some over the inside door handle to remind me not to use it... ?Surely sucks.

Just take it north to the santa clara body shop and get it fixed, if not, fender comes off real easy. But the door does have to open to get to a bolt IIRC.

Few bolts behind the headlight, all the inner fender screws, the hood adjuster's 3 bolts up front, two bolts right up by the firewall, and one on the bottom of the fender behind the tire. It's pretty simple to remove. Takes me about 30 minutes to get one off and back on. Door doesn't have to open for the fender to come off. Fender has to come off to adjust the door hinges.

Russ that was my first idea but not very practicle. But sure would be nice to "JUST GET AWAY FOR A WHILE".... Not sure this can be hammered out from the inside but will have to take a look see if and when I remove it..

A trip to pick a part should get you a good replacement fender, maybe in the right color. I can help next week, if you need any.

Lindstrom has it right. It is really not that hard to remove. It should be a little easier for you since the bolts won't be rusty.

I would highly recommend giving her proper driving lessons. Too many people don't know how to properly drive, and just don't know it.

She has driving problems. I know that. She drives without thinking. Never looks at the dash. A few years ago it was 11pm and we just hit the sack when she asked me to get up and fill the car with gas .. Cause she would not have enough time in the morning to do it... *** homer.. Get up 10 minutes eariler you fool.. Nope.. she was not going to do that Hell no. So when she got up and hit the shower I snuck out anf filled the tank but parked it exactlly where it had been. Then got back in bed. Well she leaves for work and calls me giving me hell... *** homer again I say.. Seems she stopped for fuel and couldn't get any to go into the tank... Remember now its full cause I just did it. She procedes telling me she went to fuel it up and all it would do is click off. Nothing would go in. So she gets in to continue her drive to work on a supposedly mt tank when she finally LOOKS AT THE TANK GAUGE.... She told me never to do that to her again cause it was going to make her late for work... Yeah.. Shes batcrap carazy and the drs told her so. She needs to live on an island with servants doing all the stuff she wont do.

Ken... Don't I knowit... Gees. Seems the older we get the more things appear to happen. Or am I just more critical now...
Well I can add some bad & good news to all this. I looked closely at the damage and its worse than I thought. I placed some scotch tape on the outside keyy lock and on the inside door handle so I would not try to open the door from either side. Sucks sliding over the front seat too. Finished breakfast and went out to look again. Figured its not going to hurt much to open the hood and look for the fender sliding joint adjustements. Found the 2 up by the cowel and the hood hinge. The top of the fender was pushed in and siting down the hood to fender joint it was noticable. So I loosened both the 1/2 hex bolts. Wedged out the top of the fender aligning the joint better and now I can open and close the door without it binding on the fender. Maybe I shouldn't have done that because now I'm in no hurry to fix it.. But she will never drive it again...... Till the next time....

Been readen it Ken. The wifey has so many "reasons" why things mysteriously happen to here all the time. She wil never change. I realize she knows silly things that happen to her are her fault but just can't admit to it. I'm sure when she got home last nite my reaction was a huge surprise to her.. "Its fine honey. Its just a truck and you are fine so be ok with that. I will fix it you know that"... But inside I was crying. I was driving the rig in the same parking lot and saw this foolish gate and figured it wouldn't be too long before someone ran into it. Little did I know it was going to be my family doing it. I need a replacement fender. The damage is too extensive. Pics will be posted some day. Gotta learn how to move them from puter to this forum. Have not worked that out yet. Niether has yhe wifey and she knows way more than me bout puters. Just last nite I was attempting to send a friend in need some kind words on facebook. Couldn't find the word.. POST.. So good old wifey said it right there. Well even she couldn't find it. So she logged out and went in thru google chrome but still no post sign. So she tried logging in under her name.. Same thing.. We be screwed here without a kiss either...

Well, heck, Gary. A decent replacement fender in SoCal is much easier to find than in, say, Iowa or Canada.....

Guess you're reminding me to be thankful that my Mrs. gave up driving some years ago.

Those pieces of pipe would've probably totalled the Accord. Like the Acura that rear-ended my van a couple years ago.
