Actually, Slade, Mulochico not only has a timing setup, but has offered us NorCal guys help in setting timing. :hail:hail:hail

Hoping to meet Alan and take him up on his kind offer sometime soon! ;Sweet

I broke down and got a ferret, I could probably stand a better timing light but I seem to have mine set pretty close.

Is there a car wash nearby? I use the pressure washer to clean engines before I ****** them. I just leave the engine running and spray away! IDI fairly easy to wash out, all the water flows down the valley and over the transmission on to the ground.

Never been afraid to wash a running engine especially a diesel.

I'm gonna throw this out there, just so you all hear it. I just attended a Stanadyne training session as part of my new job. One of the things the instructor SPECIFICALLY mentioned is to NEVER wash a running diesel with a Stanadyne IP. Now, having said that, the reason is the same as why we sometimes poor cool water on an IP with a heat soak issue. Sudden changes in pump housing temperature cause the hydraulic head to expand or contract at a faster rate then the internal rotor. If it shrinks by .00002 inches, your looking at snapping the input shaft in your healthy pump and siezing the head and rotor. That's major damage, and invalidates your pump as a useable core. This public service message brought to you by Conestoga Diesel Injection. LOL ;)

Mel... Are you telling us that demension is 2, one hundred thousands of an inch. If so thats really a small amount.. I wonder why Daves farm viedos of the idiot running his idi thru the ponds and the snow covered engine starts didn't ruin that pump. Glad to learn this information but I never wash my engine. It just does not get dirty. But if I did wash it I will do it cold. Blow dry it and start to warm it up... Thanks...

I am not going to say the info is incorrect, there will be some body that pours a bucket of 40F water on the injection pump on a fully heated up injection pump.

When I do gas engines I sure dont spray the distributor cap for bleeding obvious reasons.

When I wash my diesel I sure dont focus the injection pump but I do hit it for a few seconds to clean off any grime.

Doing this long enough I do know you give a Cuban a steel ball and a rubber hammer and the steel ball will be all *****.

Well it is ready and organized. Gonna start after I take my son to school. :D

I found out I ordered duplicate parts (o-rings, etc.). Not expensive parts so It is better to have extra than not enough. :sly

I will try to update throughout the process as I can. ;Sweet

What a nice picture of fun ahead for you... Thats the best part of doing this work. Its simple.. clean type work... you don't have to remove most of the top of the engine to reach the glow plugs or injecters like the psd crowd does... Nice work too.

Well, I got the old pump removed. ;Sweet Confirmed it was the original. Lots of grey paint around the injector lines. Not to bad for 191,000 miles

Just before I got it removed it started to rain. :dunno

Just need to wait for the weather so I can do the injectors and glow plugs. No problem, just a little more time for the penetrating oil to loosen the threads. :popcorn

Well this cali rain was a sneak attack on us.. Yesterdays report was a 20% chance from 2am on... WTH is that about.. Now its been raining here in southern cali since 1 am... HMMM. So Are you going to use some antisieze on the injecter threads... The gluw plugs have some antisieze on the threads already but a tiny bit more wont hurt. But stay away from the seating surface that the bevel part. Thats where the actuall compression seal happens. Not on the threads. The threads only job is to hold the plug in the head against the seat.. No seal takes place with the threads.

Sweet!!! Hopefully your injectors and plugs come out without a fight. I had one stubborn injector that took a few days to free up.

I'm sure they will come out just fine :D . I'm sure your truck has had much better maintenance than mine.

Have you mounted that bumper? I'm curious to see how it looks on your truck :)
