So Anyone know about steering stabilizers?
When I put my new tires they are bigger and heavier and I don't have stabilizers which is causing my shake!!
Gunna keep the old tires on till I rebuild my stabilizer brackets

what brand and size are the tires? A stabilizer will not cure deathwobble, and most times makes zero difference. Is this a kingpin 60?

How do I tell if it's a king pin?
And some 37" military tires (Goodyear r/t)

Stabilixers are more from bumps caused by the road, ground.

What kind of tires? Bias or radial? If they sit for a while they can get lumpy...

It would appear that the different tyres are thus FINDING the weak link in the suspension and thus creating the proverbial DEATH WOBBLE...better to fix that issue correctly than MASK it with a band aid AKA steering dampener....

I run the same 37"s ad actually took my (aftermarket) stabilizer off. I would look for play in the steering components.

It's hard to say how indepth the shop went checking your steering components, for instance checking the latteral link on the diff from the engine's cross member and it's respective rubber bushings actually is not easy to do. It usually needs to be removed for inspection.

If you have King Pins then those should be checked / repack bearings and adjust as needed if needing rebuild then rebuild them.

If you have ball joints they must be unloaded and checked unloaded with front end suspended up enough to get a jack or good long pry bar under the wheel to check those....actually same to test king pins....only difference is ball joints cannot be rebuilt, only replaced.

Next after that is wheel bearings and u joints in the axle when the front end is up in the air.

Don't forget to twist turn your steering linkages at the tie rod end or TRE as often referred to. Test for slop binding and anything unusual...sometimes a pry bar can be slipped up under them to check for vertical slop not seen by twisting

Now from tie rod to drag link and make sure both ends are good....

Next in line is the steering box, and respective shaft from the column, which has a universal joint on one end and a rag joint on the other...those have to be in tip top shape, there is also a plastic bushing in the actual steering shaft that allows the shaft to compress in an ancident and it needs to be in good shape or you get slop in steering and it could cause issues.

Brakes need to be checked for warped rotors but wheel bearings have to be in top shape first prior to testing run out of disk rotor.

As you can see, having your front end thoroughly checked requires a great deal of work and not just a cursory glance of steering linkage!

If you have a twin traction beam front end not a solid front axle, then there are even MORE components to check. Pivot bushings need inspection/checking and trailing arm bushings need a thorough inspection.

All brackets should be inspected for cracks, loose rivets and so forth.

Clearly alot goes into steering a vehicle.....have you checked every single item above? ...If not time to inspect...Oh lets not forget shocks..LOL

some fun eh? ;Poke

I had a Jeep Comanche p/u for awhile. Put some rims on it that I bought from a friend (looked good!!!!!). Had a bad shake at certain speeds and I couldn't figure it out (New tires, rims straight, suspension/steering in good shape, alignment good). It ended up being that the wheel offset was wrong. It put the tires to far out and it caused stress on the steering. Had to sell the rims and put stock ones back on.

My .02.

I've changed the following
-wheels/rims
-steering box
-tie rods and drag link
-the bar from the crossmember to axle
-brakes
-jacked up front end and pried under tires and other ways (check ball joint or kp)

Everything under my front end is brand new since this problem
Might try another alignment shop and see what they say

Changed those about a month ago
Like I said
It did this at one point with my othe tires and I changed my tie rods and it went away so I'm lost after everything I've done to it and the time I've spent

Something...somewhere is not correct...it's that simple...otherwise it would be ok...so it could be the tyres/rims you stuck on...who knows....not for me to say...

Just adding more to the list but You provably replaced it already, what about the stabilizer bar and track bar bushings? Shocks?
