Guys,

I am looking to trade only for a 10.25 rearend that has 3.55 gears in it. Mine has 4.10 gears and just revs too high to be economical on the highway. The guy I bought the rig from was going to hook me up but he is unable.

I am in KS but travel the I-29 corridor frequently.

Let me know.

Local junk yard wants $350 plus my current axle...super lame!

Thanks,
Thad

Barely, it would cost more in gas than to pay the local guy here.

I appreciate it though.

How much do you want for it? I have yet to have someone even say they have one. Beyond the junkyard which wanted $450 for it.

Yeah, the only axle that I have found locally was half buried and the guy wanted $400 for it. Offered to just buy the gears and he said the price wouldn't change...???

Why not just take the darn ring and pinion or better yet the pinion and the carrier with the gears and do a swap?

He wouldn't sell me just those parts without buying the entire axle for $350....I could probably take the parts I need and sell the rest but I just don't want the hassle.

I want to make the same trade Dakota. Only one I've found is $700. And they wouldn't buy mine. If I could find someone wanting to trade (within driving distance) I would go to their house and we could swap in the yard.

I'm sure you have combed your local 4x4 boards and CL - if it's for your 87' you could toss in any rear axle. D70, D70HD, 14B - broaden your horizons, a 1 ton FF rear axle shouldn't cost more then $100.

D70, is that dodge? What's a 14b? My username isn't a joke. I know just enough to be dangerous. Will they bolt right up?

Dana 70 - came in Dodges and Ford's - it's a Dana axle, just like your front, it doesn't really matter what it was under.

14B is a Corp 14 - one of the most common axles found under heavy duty Chevy's. The only thing you care about is spring pad width and gear ratio - do some poking around and you will find that anything is possible.

The only issue I would then have is the bolt pattern for the tires/wheels.

8 on 6.5 is standard - the only thing you have to worry about is the newer metric 170x8 pattern, which is like 2003+
