1/8" is way too much to move it at a time. 1/32" at a time, each 1/32" move equals 3-4 degrees timing. Don't move it while the engine is running, at least tighten the top nut between each move.

You can do it with it running BUT its possible for the ip shaft to snap, so i wouldnt reckomend doing it this way, i have done it but i would never do it to someones truck i was working on

Have you tried putting some diesel kleen in the fuel?

You'd be amazed what some diesel kleen can do :sly

the pump was not changed, just the injectors. it ran just fine, but i wanted to change the injectors and return lines because i have no idea how old they are.

i have not put any additives in the fuel, normally i do but i dont have any in this tank. i have no idea how old this tank of fuel is either... potentially from the last time i went fishing, which was in october/september

Please try retarding the timing now, the way that video sounded made it sound slightly advanced

i retarded it back 1/32nd below the witness mark, no effect. i think at this point i should correctly time it to at least eliminate a timing issue.

this fuel thing is killing me. i didnt think putting NEW injectors in would screw up my fueling.

no smoke at idle
no miss that i can detect at idle
increase RPM, get blue smoke, hesitation, and slight knock
knock and smoke go away when you let off the throttle

theres gotta be something stupid im missing.

Ok get the timing set to spec with a meter, if it still does it then its the injectors

Try this, with it running crack loosen one injector at a time to see if you have one or more causing the problem, I believe you have 1 sticking.
