On the road ....
New F350 purchase - but its' an automatic - advice on servicing the tranny please ?
I just bought another truck
1991 F350 w/7.3 IDI - ATS turbo - crew cab
160,00 miles
Same owner for (11) years who babied it
He could of been my brother ....
Only thing I don't care for - automatic tranny
It has a 4:10 rear end with a FOTZ*7V00*LRM automatic
with overdrive button on the dash - transmission was replaced
60K ago in 1999 by Ford along with processor assembly, tachometer sensor,
tripminder assembly.
He added a tranny cooler with a dash mount temperature gauge.
The shifts are hard & quick but that is without any trailer
or towed load.
I am planning on having the tranny completely flushed, filter changed,
fluid replaced before putting it into service.
Would you recommend draining the tranny, installing a new filter
and fluid, do a complete flushing, drain a second time and put in
a second filter ?
That is what I am planning to do ...
Also, what tranny fluid to use?
I like Royal Purple diff oil, I run 85/140 in my 4:10 rear end
on my 1990 F350 now so I was thinking of maybe putting
Royal purple tranny fluid in .....
If you don't know - I tow
Thanks!
Jim
